Inspired by Creative Independence
My interest in sewing was late to bloom, around 8 years ago I got the urge to try and create a denim quilt as a DIY weighted blanket, I learned a little about sewing, denim, and using a Kenmore Sewing Machine during that project. This led to further practice with sewing projects and a budding interest in fashion.
In 2024 I was feeling stuck with my progress and was unsure how to proceed as a self-led learner. I was gifted lessons with a Wonderful Local Instructor who worked with me on a pattern of my choice. Because of my indecisiveness with Festival Hoods, I decided to pick an Animal Hood Pattern. With her help I learned tricks on how to work with faux fur, how to read a pattern, how to adjust a pattern for size, ease, and material choice. Her guidance was immensely helpful to my sewing confidence and education.
The Festival hood pattern has gone through many versions since the original, each one giving a different, unique vibe. I thoroughly enjoy creating each and every one of them. Each one teaching me new lessons, and showing new ways for improvement. The Custom orders have been especially fun and educational for me, I have loved the experience of making creations come to fruition.
Hello Friends!
Let me introduce myself…
My name is Jacquelyn, and I am the Creative Owner/Maker of Jacq the Seam Ripper.
I’m in my late thirties and like to describe myself as creative, socially awkward and usually around for a good laugh. Self-deprecating humor and sarcasm are my jam!
The Picture displays my first Faux Fur Festival Hood I made with the guidance of my instructor.
